Public events May 20th
May 20th is celebrated as the European Maritime Day. Year 2012 Gothenburg will arrange a day, open for the public, full of of exiting maritime activities along the Göta river (Göta Älv). Explore life under and above the water and on the shorelines. Visit ships and boats, join excursions or learn more about sustainable fishing. You may also take a challenge in an interactive exhibition and much more. The European Maritime Day will truly be an adventure for all ages!
Most of the activities will be free of charge.

After a full day of public activities from 11 to 18, there is still an opportunity to discover Gothenburg’s beautiful archipelago on Ingo, a three masted schooner from 1921. Departure from Klippan at 18:00 and arrival back at 23:00. Book your ticket at email@example.com. 200 SEK for adults, 100 SEK for children. This tour is also available on May 21 and 22, same times and prices apply.
You can also be a part of the crew on M/S Atene, a small cargo ship, built in 1909. Departure from Packhuskajen at 18:00, returning at 21:00. Book your ticket by calling +46 705 27 98 38. 200 SEK for adults, 100 SEK for children.
The European Maritime Day is celebrated annually since 2008. The purpose is to highlight the importance of seas and oceans and the challenges facing maritime regions and sectors. The conference will take place in Gothenburg on 21-22 May 2012.
